Ethical leadership is essential for the effectiveness of institutions.

A training was given to the leaders of the corporation under the theme "Ethical Leadership for the Mission of the Institution" at Addis Ababa Housing Development Corporation.

In his opening speech, the Director General of the Housing Development Corporation, Engineer Thomas Debele, welcomed the leaders of the institutions who participated in the training and said that ethical leadership is essential for the success of our institution.

He said that leadership without ethical leadership cannot carry the mission of the institution and that ethics is the sustenance of our lives that we need anywhere, at any time.

He also thanked the Directorate of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Monitoring of the Corporation for organizing the training in collaboration with the Addis Ababa Anti-Corruption Commission and handed over the platform to the trainer of the day.

The Director of the Training Sector of the Addis Ababa Anti-Corruption Commission, Ato Jenberu Hirpo, gave a comprehensive and detailed training to the leaders of the corporation under the theme "Ethical Leadership for the Mission of the Institution".

The trainer said that the mission of any institution can be achieved only when the leadership process is characterized by ethical leadership.

He said that leadership is not just about words but also about putting all ethical principles into practice and being a wise leader who is always ready to learn from others and who accepts the leadership beyond being a leader.

The leadership, through ethical leadership, seeks to eliminate the unethical problems that are seen as an institution or a city, and to provide lasting solutions to the problems of the citizens by understanding them. He explained that ethics is a compass that shows us the right path by abandoning bad things and holding on to good thoughts.

He pointed out that ethical deficiencies not only destroy the credibility, social acceptance, and healthy working relationships of individuals and institutions, but also create various crises by creating conflicts of interest.

When the trainees of the day gave their comments on the training provided, they said that it was good that the training was organized in this way on the day our institution made a leadership change, and that it would be good if the training was expanded and provided to the bottom in a way that develops the knowledge of the management and employees in the future.

Addis Ababa Anti-Corruption Commission Training Sector Director Genberu Hirpoo said that the Commission is ready to provide the necessary assistance in the future by providing professional responses to the suggestions raised by the trainees.

The Corporation’s Construction Sector Deputy Director General Engineer Fiqadu Alemu, while responding to the questions raised by the participants during the training, said that the Corporation’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Monitoring Directorate, in collaboration with the Commission, was able to prepare such a timely and appropriate training for the management. He thanked the Corporation’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Monitoring Directorate and the Commission.

He further conveyed his message to the Corporation’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Monitoring Directorate and the Commission to provide training in a comprehensive manner that is appropriate for the institution’s work ethic and the institution’s management and staff by designing various training topics.

Finally, the General Director of the Corporation, Engineer Thomas Debele, in his conclusion, said that ethical leadership is not only measured by completing the tasks assigned to us on time, but also by using our working hours properly for the growth of our institution and moving the institution to greater heights.

He said that ethical leadership is about removing the idea of leadership that is an obstacle to implementing it in practice and building a leadership based on good ethics.

He said that the content and delivery of the training were given in a way that is appropriate for the leadership, and the trainees were also honored for paying attention to the training and giving their constructive feedback on the training.

He continued by saying that in order to achieve transparent ethical leadership in the corporation, the institution should follow a smooth leadership that facilitates the process and everyone should do their part for institutional growth.
